Milton Glaser
- What work in Milton Glaser’s career did you find most fascinating and why?
I wouldn't say it's one poster or logo but the way he designs. I love how his designs are so simple and yet give the message so well. For example the I Love New York it's insanely simple but yet communicates so well. As a designer I lean to more messy designs because I love nature photography which is never symmetrical. So seeing something so minimal fascinates me and is always something I challenge myself to do.
- Based on the film, what do you think were Milton Glaser’s greatest inspirations?
I would say puzzles would be his biggest inspiration he give people a lot of big pieces that they can put together easy. Also his line work reminds me a lot of music and he talks about how he likes music. Reading music has to be easy and fast for someone to process this way they know how to play a song with other people. Which is a lot like Glaser's work.
- What are some statements or ideas Milton Glaser (or his associates) communicates throughout the film to show his passion for his career?
"What student get from a good teacher is not instruction... They get a demonstration of someone's view of life. A way of perceiving the world." I like this statement because I feel like a lot of art and band teachers are like this. Where as other teachers don't seem to want to involved. I did have one history teacher that basically lived that statement and was the best history class I was ever in. And I don't even like history class. That class has helped me through high school and college courses and he was only an eighth grade teacher.
- What idea or information from the film was most powerful for you and how will it affect your life and/or choices in the future for your work in this class?
I think something that I respected most is he knows he makes good art but he's also not afraid to criticize himself to be like we should have done female hands instead of man hands. Being confident in apricating your own work but yet understating you make mistakes is super cool to see. I feel like artist I have meet are either to cocky or just don't appreciate there own work when it's actually really good.
